Twitter Stopped "Official" Label Less Than a Day After It Was Introduced

Yesterday, Twitter introduced the Official label in small white under the Twitter profile name for verified politicians, media, brands, celebrities, companies and government-owned accounts. But a few hours after it was introduced, this label was discontinued.

Instead, all accounts that have ever been verified will remain with the blue smear mark as before. To distinguish it from regular user accounts that subscribe to Twitter Blue, this blue smear can be pressed. Accounts that were previously verified will display the description that they are official accounts, while those subscribed to Twitter Blue will display "This account is verified because it subscribes to Twitter Blue".

For now, Twitter Blue has not yet been launched in Malaysia and is only limited to selected countries. Twitter Blue's blue tick support will also be limited to iOS users only for the time being, like the initial launch of Twitter Blue.
