400 Apple Developer Academy 2022 Students Graduating

Apple Developer Academy again graduated 400 students from campuses in BSD, Surabaya and Batam. There are many applications produced by graduates this year.

Class of 2022 consists of various students who come from five major islands in Indonesia, and range in age from 18 to 39 years. This batch also has the highest number of female participants since the program started.

This year's graduation ceremony highlighted three graduating teams that harnessed the power of code to build compelling applications that take advantage of the latest technologies while helping solve problems in their communities. Its applications include Comute which allows the deaf to travel easily by train in Jakarta.

Then there is WonderJack which offers a safe space for children with dyslexia to learn through interactive and educational games. As well as Hexcape which utilizes augmented reality and other technologies to bring escape room style puzzle games online and offline.

The online graduation ceremony was attended by Shaan Pruden, Apple's Senior Director of Developer Relations. In his remarks he expressed his admiration for the work created by graduates of the Apple Developer Academy 2022.

Pruden invited the graduates to dive deeper into what they had gained while at the academy. In addition to strengthening the network.

"Stay connected with alumni, not just this batch but past as well. So if you might be looking for a job in the future you might be able to tap into people you may have met before and get introduced to someone they might know." .

Not only that, Pruden also encourages 2022 graduates to continue developing the applications that have been made. At first maybe the downloaders only come from Indonesia, but in fact there are big opportunities out there.

For that it is advisable to continue to do market research. Also try to think about what localization might work for other regions. One of them uses English so that the application distribution can be wider.

"So if you want to try and get the business rolling and drive revenue, you might want to consider looking at what other countries can use your solution for. I think like the game apps introduced tonight could be marketed in other regions," said Pruden.

Entering its fifth year in Indonesia, the Apple Developer Academy equips aspiring entrepreneurs, developers and designers with code knowledge as well as leadership training to empower students with the skills necessary to create useful apps in Indonesia's fast-growing iOS app economy.

Every year, students from the Academy also participate in the Swift Student Challenge of Apple's annual Worldwide Developer Conference which invites students from around the world to submit Swift Playgrounds app projects to demonstrate their interest in programming code. For WWDC22, Indonesia Developer Academy scored 36 challenge winners. This is the highest number of winners in Indonesia since the Academy opened and is a remarkable achievement for the graduating class this year.

Apple Developer Academy has trained more than 1,650 prospective developers in Indonesia to date through collaboration with leading local higher education institutions, including BINUS University in Jakarta, Ciputra University in Surabaya, and Infinite Learning in Batam. Some of these graduates have participated in other developer programs, including Apple's Entrepreneur Camp and the Catalyst program which offer one-on-one guidance at the code level from Apple experts and engineers, as well as guidance, inspiration, and insight to improve their applications.

The App Store, launched in 2008, is the safest and most active app marketplace in the world. Home to 1.8 million apps and visited by more than half a billion people per week in approximately 175 territories, the App Store is an engine of global economic growth helping to bill and sell $643 billion in 2020 alone.
