Best Devices 2022 – Best Value Phones

The best value is something subjective and it changes according to each individual. We say the best value if the selling price is cheaper than the combination of attractive features offered to users. The three devices below are in our opinion the best for this category.

Choosing criteria

Worth the price with the included features.

Screens as large as 6-inches and above 120Hz.

Good performance.

5G support.

Additional features that increase value.

Using at least Android 12.

Has been officially launched in Malaysia.

Third Place – Honor 70 5G

Since no longer standing in the shadow of Huawei, Honor has been more aggressive in marketing their devices that combine an attractive design like a landmark, satisfactory performance, satisfactory photography capabilities and a reasonable price. The Honor 70 5G has all the above features and that's why we put it in third place. Long lasting battery with 66W charging.

At the price of RM1999 each, users can enjoy a beautiful 6.67″ OLED 120Hz screen. The Snapdragon 778G+ chip on the other hand offers a very satisfactory performance in the use of normal and basic applications. Our performance is also very good despite the lack of OIS system support.

It's only in third place because of mono audio, no waterproof capability and no 3.5mm audio jack. For those looking for a phone that looks like it's from the flagship class but is still affordable, the Honor 70 5G is one of our picks.

Specifications: 6.67” OLED FHD+ ,120Hz, HDR10+, Snapdragon 778G+ 6nm (1X Cortex-A78 2.5 GHz + 3X Cortex-A78 2.4 GHz + 4X Cortex-A55 1.8GHz), 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, 54+50+2 MP ( Main), 32 MP (Selfie), 4800 mAh (66W), Android 12.

Price: RM1999 (8/256G)

Second Place – Realme GT NEO 3

Want a solid gaming device but the price won't set you back a month? We recommend the Realme GT NEO 3 which is placed on this second ladder. Although not marketed as a gaming device, it has performance that does not disappoint. In the review we published, it is a gaming device that can be played for a long time without heating issues like devices with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

The 6.7 AMOLED 120Hz screen allows you to comfortably play games and watch video content complete with HDR10+. Unlike the majority of gaming devices we review, the photography capabilities of the GT NEO 3 do not disappoint as it comes with OIS.

Plus there's 80W charging support for those who don't want to wait a long time for the battery to recharge. What more could you want in a device that is sold at a price of only RM2099.

Specifications: 6.7” AOLED FHD+, 120Hz, HDR10+, Dimensity 8100 5nm (4X Cortex-A78 2.85 GHz + 4X Cortex-A55 2.0GHz), 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, 50+8+2 MP (Main), 16MP (Selfie) , 5000 mAh (80W), Android 12.

Price: Starting at RM2099 (8/256GB)

Champion – Xiaomi 12T Pro

The victory of Xiaomi 12T Pro must have been expected by many because every year in the "Best Value" category, Xiaomi is very difficult to compete with other brands. What do you get with a device that is sold at a price starting at RM2699 apiece? 6.67″ AMOLED 120Hz screen that supports Dolby Vsion – a feature rarely supported by Android devices.

This is paired with a very fast Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and a 200MP main camera. The camera performance is very good with sharp pictures with vivid colors can be taken. There were no issues running popular apps, running previews and editing videos on the 12T Pro.

It also comes with IP53 waterproof capability. Making it even more worthwhile is the 5000 mAh battery that supports 120W charging. For the best value we feel only the Xiaomi 12T Pro deserves to be crowned as the champion of this category.

Specifications: 6.67” AMOLED FHD+, 120Hz, Dolby Vision, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4nm (1X Cortex-X2 3.19 GHz + 3X Cortex-A710 2.75 GHz + 4X Cortex-A510 2.0 GHz), up to 12GB RAM, 256GB storage, 200+ 8+2MP (Main), 20MP (Selfie), 5000 mAh (120W), Android 12.
