Dyson Zone Air Filter Headphones Will Be On Sale From January 2023

Last March the Dyson Zone was unveiled as headphones with a built-in air filter for users in the pandemic era. After almost a year, Dyson announced that the Zone will go on sale to the public from January 2023.

The Dyson Zone incorporates a traditional headphone design as well as a visor and these two components combine to draw air into the headphone area. It is equipped with two filters, where the first is an electrostatic filter that will capture particles as small as 0.1 micron such as dust, pollen and so on. The second filter is a carbon filter that traps gases such as nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon monoxide that are often in the air in urban areas.

It has the ability to operate up to 50 hours in headphone mode only. But if the air filter and headphones are used simultaneously the battery life will shrink to between 90 minutes to 6 hours depending on the power level of the air filter fan.

With the existence of a fan, the Zone headphones have a built-in ANC noise cancellation system. There will be no issue of fan noise interrupting the experience of listening to favorite music. According to Dyson the ANC system can reduce noise up to 38 dB.

To make the Zone a real product and not just a prototype, the expertise of engineers from the UK, Singapore, Malaysia and China with the Dyson Malaysia Development Center in Johor became an important test center to see its performance in a tropical country.

Dyson Zone will be sold in China first from January 2023 with it then being offered in the US, UK, Hong Kong and Singapore at a price of $949 (~RM4183) a pair.
