Elon Musk Makes Twitter Tweets 4,000 Characters

Twitter is known as a microblogging platform with limited characters for each tweet. But it looks like Elon Musk wants to increase the limit, from 280 characters to 4,000 characters.

Indications about Musk's plans to add characters to his tweets have actually been revealed several times. But in his tweet at the end of last week, Musk again confirmed the plan.

Over the weekend, Twitter user @AllanObare4 asked Musk if it was true that Twitter would increase the number of characters for tweets from 280 to 4,000. Musk replied to the tweet simply: "Yes."

This isn't the first time the world's richest man has said Twitter will increase its character limit. In November, a follower pitched Musk an idea to increase Twitter's character limit to 1,000.

Musk didn't confirm it directly, but he said the option was on Twitter's to-do list, as quoted from Mashable, Tuesday (13/12/2022).

Twitter first came with a 140 character limit following the 160 character limit used by SMS at the time. In 2017, the platform with the bird logo doubled its character count to 280.

If it is true that Twitter will increase the character limit for tweets to 4,000 then the increase is certainly very significant. Users can freely express their thoughts, but the characteristics of Twitter as a microblogging platform with short tweets can fade.

It is not yet known when Twitter will increase the character limit for tweets, and whether this feature will be available to all users or only to Twitter Blue subscribers.

Twitter itself has just launched a new version of its Twitter Blue subscription service which provides several benefits and exclusive features for users including blue ticks, edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and others.
