Huawei Files Patent For Their Own EUV Lithography Scanner

Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography Scanner or Ultraviolet Lithography Scanner is one of the important components in the development and production of modern processing chips.

The absence of these specialized components makes it impossible for any company to produce high-performance semiconductor components, and is one of the reasons why China is seen developing their own technology after being subjected to various economic and technological restrictions.

Huawei recently reported that they have filed a patent for this ultra-violet lithography scanner technology which, when fully assembled, will allow the company to start developing processing chips with a 7nm build and above.

This patent includes the components of the 13.5 nm light source, reflection mirror, lithography system and component control technology. However, this patent filing does not mean that Huawei has the ability to develop this scanner itself.

In fact, for companies producing semiconductor chips such as TSMC, Intel, Samsung, SK Hynix and so on, the technology patented by them will be developed by other companies for them, as companies such as Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, AMD and so on use the company's services -these companies to develop their processing chips.

At the moment it is still unknown when Huawei will start developing these EUV scanners to develop their processing chips, but with the economic sanctions imposed on the Chinese government, it will probably take a few more years before the company can actually start manufacture their own semiconductor components.
