iOS 16.2 Released, Bring Apple Music Sing Feature for Karaoke

Apple officially released iOS 16.2 and iPadOS 16.2. This includes a fairly large update because it brings a number of new features.

Most importantly, there is Freeform which allows users to collaborate with each other on creative projects. However, what is highly awaited on iOS 16.2 is Apple Music Sing, this feature is suitable for those who like karaoke.

The iOS 16.2 update also includes fixes for a number of issues and improvements to security and privacy.

New Features of iOS 16.2

1. Freeform App

Apple first introduced Freeform during the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) last June. This app is like a digital whiteboard without limits.

Users can collaborate with each other using various Apple devices to create creative projects. They can write, draw, insert media, attach documents or notes on Freeform. This application is synchronized in real time.

2. Apple Music Sing

Designed as a karaoke feature for Apple Music subscribers. Apple Music Sing provides real-time lyrics that iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV users can sing along to.

Features include adjustable vocals to change the volume of the original singer, real-time lyrics that move to the rhythm of the vocals, backing vocals option, and duet view for multi-singer tracks.

Apple has provided over 50 playlists including songs, duets, choruses, and anthems that are ideal for use with Apple Music Sing.

Apple Music Sing works with iPhone 11 and later, iPad Pro 11-inch third generation and later, iPad Pro 5th generation 12.9-inch and later, iPad Air fourth generation and later, iPad 9th generation and later, and iPad mini and later.

3. AirDrop Limitations

Apple changed AirDrop settings in China with the iOS 16.1.1 update. If you configure AirDrop to "Everyone", there is a time limit of up to 10 minutes.

Now the company enabled this feature for all users with the iOS 16.2 update. After 10 minutes, the setting for AirDrop returns to "Contacts Only" and users need to change it manually toggle "Everyone".

4. Advanced Data Protection

Introduced last week, Advanced Data Protection extends end-to-end encryption to additional iCloud data categories. This feature will protect user information even in the event of a data breach in iCloud by encrypting iCloud backups, Notes, Photos, Reminders, Voice Memos, Safari Bookmarks, Siri Shortcuts, and Wallet Passes.

5. Lock Screen

A new setting lets you hide wallpapers or notifications when Always-On Display is enabled on iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. There is a sleep Widget allowing users to view the latest sleep data. There is a medication widget that allows users to view reminders and quickly access schedules.

6. Game Center

SharePlay now supports Game Center for multiplayer games so that users can play with people they call via FaceTime calls. Additionally there is an Activity Widget allowing users to see what their friends are playing and achieving in games right from the Home Screen.

7. External Display Support

With iPadOS 16.2, Stage Manager on iPad M1 and M2 can again be used with external displays. This is functionality that Apple removed in the first version of iPadOS 16 in order to extend Stage Manager to the iPad Pro A12X and A12Z models.
