The new generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11, ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 and ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 were announced days before the CES 2023 event. This year Lenovo focused on laptops that are more environmentally friendly not only in the components they are built on but also in their packaging. For example, up to 90% of the laptop body is made from recycled aluminum while the packaging is made 100% from bamboo.
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is equipped with a 14″ OLED screen up to 2.8K, powered by an Intel Core Gen-13 chip, memory up to 64GB LPDDR5, storage up to 2TB Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD and a 57 Whr battery. Like previous ThinkPads, it passes MIL-STD 810H military durability standards.
At the same time meeting the needs of the modern worker, this laptop supports 5G networks via SIM and eSIM. Interestingly the X1 Carbon supports the Tile system which allows it to be tracked using an app.
Another interesting feature is an infrared camera that can scan the face using Windows Hello that can be physically closed using the Think Shutter system. A fingerprint scanner is also included for those who are more comfortable using this biometric system. In terms of audio, there is Dolby Atmos support. I/O options are 2x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB-A 3.2, 1x HDMI 2.0b and 1 3.5mm audio jack.
ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 has the same specifications as X1 Carbon Gen 11, only a 14″ screen with WQUXGA 4K resolution with touch support. The X1 Yoga Gen 8 screen can also be rotated 360 degrees to become a tablet. I/O options, battery, durability, 5G and tracking are also unchanged with the X1 Carbon. The total weight of this laptop is 1.38 kilograms.
Lastly is the ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 which has a thin design and a light body of only 970 grams. A smaller 13″ 2K screen with touch is paired with an Intel Core Gen-13 chip, 16GB LPDDR5 memory, 1TB Gen 4 PCIe NVMe SSD storage and a 49.6 Whr battery. Other specifications are the same as the X1 Carbon and X1 Yoga above.
ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 is sold at a starting price of $1729 (~RM7672), ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 is sold at a price of $1859 (~RM8249) and ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 is sold starting at $1649 (~RM7317) around April 2023.
