Malaysia's 5G Network Expected to Exceed 40% of Populated Areas by the End of 2022

Digital Nasional Berhad today shared the latest developments, saying the 5G network coverage rate in Malaysia will exceed the figure covering 40% of populated areas by the end of 2022.

In fact, this achievement simultaneously maintains DNB's track to reach 80% coverage of populated areas by 2024.

DNB says they will remain at 40% with the use of around 3500 sites compared to the 4018 sites initially planned. The reduction in this site is said to be due to supply chain problems at the beginning of the year, in addition to delays in obtaining approval from local authorities, especially in Selangor and Sarawak.

Due to the delay as well, plans have been changed and the introduction of 5G networks has also been implemented in several other states in stages.

Today, apart from the Klang Valley, the 5G network has also been offered in several other states, including Sabah, Sarawak and Kelantan.
