MIUI 14 Launched With Improved Widgets And Faster Android 13 Based

The new Xiaomi MIUI 14 operating system based on Android 13 was officially launched yesterday at the same time as the launch of the Xiaomi 13 series. This time the improvements are given to increase the smoothness of the animation which is said to be better up to 60%, focus on privacy and add more interesting interface elements.

The icons and interface are larger which reminds us of the design used on Pixel devices. Interface elements also look more cheerful. There is more fancy Widget support along with virtual pets and plants widgets. This reminds us of the virtual character Shark Chan on the Black Shark 5 device that was reviewed this year.

MIUI 14 also has a smaller installation size below 14GB compared to up to 17GB for MIUI 13. Unnecessary files will be automatically removed by the system when not in use. For example, only eight installed applications cannot be removed by users if they do not want to use them.

The gallery app can now read text from saved photos with it then translated by simply tapping on the screen. Eight languages are currently supported. The Mi AI virtual assistant has also been improved with various new features.

For those with a family, the gallery can be shared with 8 family members automatically along with health data sharing if necessary. Both of these features are similar to those supported on iOS 16 on iPhone devices.

Finally there is a feature that facilitates interaction with smart products in the Xiaomi ecosystem. From the screenshots, it has similarities to the Super Device feature on Huawei devices. MIUI 14 is currently only used on Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro first.
