Video game giant from California, Epic Games, has been sued by parents. He said, one of their games called Fortnite made their children addicted.
Even though basically, the battle royale game is so much fun, it's just not free from the controversy it causes. It's not that the visuals are bad, or the game mechanics are boring.
However, this problem actually comes from the preoccupation offered by the developer. Attracted by young gamers, Fortnite has succeeded in bringing uniqueness that is different from games with other similar genres.
Unfortunately, many parents cannot accept this. This happened because their children were addicted to playing Fortnite, we quoted from IGN.
In fact, not a few of the players make purchases in the game. This is considering, there are some parents who receive large bills related to V-Bucks (digital currency in Fortnite).
Actually, the lawsuit that was filed by this group of people, had happened several years ago. However, a judge from Quebec, Canada, has only now authorized it and the class action lawsuit against Epic Games can proceed.
In the initial lawsuit that was submitted, it claimed that Epic Games deliberately designed Fortnite to make its players addicting. Then one of the parents also stated that their child had spent nearly 8 thousand hours playing games in the last two years.
Epic Games also had time to make an official statement regarding this matter. They revealed that they have provided parental controls that can be used in the settings menu in the game.
Previously, the completion of the class action that visited Epic Games, has been completed. They compensate players who are based in the United States, and have been playing Fortnite from July 1, 2015 to February 25, 2021.
