Taiwan Government Wants To Keep TSMC Technology Secret From US Government

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company may have confirmed that they will open two processing chip production plants in Arizona, but they are also aware that there is a need to ensure that their processing chip development technology does not fall into the hands of other governments arbitrarily.

Recently, it has been reported that the Taiwanese government will develop a team to ensure that TSMC's secrets are not leaked or stolen by any other party.

Tsung-Tsong Wu, Minister of the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) said that the technologies contained behind TSMC's success in becoming the most important semiconductor company in the world are already important for the country.

How the government wants to ensure that these companies' technologies do not fall into the wrong hands is not known, but another thing that has been told is that factories in Arizona will always use processing chip development technologies that are at least a generation behind the factories. in Taiwan.

This can be seen from how in 2024 when the first factory will open, the TSMC factory in Arizona will build processing chips using the N5 process (5nm, 4nm), where in Taiwan, TSMC will build processing chips using the N3 process (3nm).

When the second Arizona plant opens in 2026, the plant will manufacture processing chips using the 3nm process, while at the same time, the Taiwan plant will begin developing processing chips with the 2nm process.

Apart from processing chip manufacturing technology, among other technologies that will be kept secret by TSMC and the Taiwanese government include ways to obtain the highest possible amount of processing chip production.

It is expected that when the two TSMC factories in Arizona open, it will produce around 600 pieces of semiconductor wafers per month, and companies such as Apple and NVIDIA will be the main customers for these factories.
