Take a Peek at Saudi Arabia's Ambitious Project: The World's Largest Futuristic Island

Megaprojects made in Saudi Arabia are always astonishing. The latest and currently being developed is NEOM, a sophisticated city like in a science fiction film that will become the largest artificial island in the world.

NEOM CEO Al-Nasr mentioned that the NEOM project is currently constructing 15 islands as phase 1 of its development. The development of this island will be followed by a complete mobility system and is claimed to be committed to sustainable energy.

As much as 95% of the entire NEOM area will be converted into a nature reserve. The Line, Trojena and Oxagon, the three major projects where NEOM is concentrating its development, are expected to create 380 thousand new jobs and an additional GDP of SAR 180 billion for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Line

The first project is called 'The Line.' Saudi Arabia will also use a lot of artificial intelligence to design The Line. NEOM executive director Giles Pendleton said they had to build a large amount of real estate quickly.

Pendleton highlighted that the city, which will have nine million residents, will be made from a series of modular elements that have been pre-engineered and determined how they function.

The Line is being built in the Tabuk region, northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This metropolis will be able to blend in with the surrounding landscape as it is designed to operate on 100% renewable energy and retain 95% of its territory for wildlife.

Quoted from WIO News, this city was designed to prioritize the health and happiness of its residents over transportation and infrastructure. The development will include areas to live, work and play.

Snowy Trojena

The Trojena tourist attraction in Saudi Arabia will be 50 kilometers from the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba and is a component of the NEOM megaproject. This location has an altitude ranging from 1,500 meters to 2,600 meters and will undergo major transformations in preparation for the 2029 Asian Winter Games.

Saudi Arabia will be the first Middle Eastern country to host the Asian Winter Games which will include 32 participating countries, and Trojena is prepared for that.

The Trojena project was built in a region with sub-zero winter temperatures. Compared to the rest of Saudi Arabia, the region's average annual temperature is about 10 degrees lower.

Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman said, Trojena will redefine mountain tourism for the world by creating a place based on ecotourism principles and highlighting efforts to preserve nature in line with the goals of the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2030.

Floating city Oxagon

The NEOM project also includes Oxagon, a floating metropolis that is claimed to revolutionize the global industrial sector. This city was built somewhere around the Red Sea, near the Suez Canal.

The city, shaped like its namesake, is a component of the NEOM megaproject and is dedicated to building a new logistics center that will be a breakthrough in future industrial development.

Oxagon is targeted for completion in 2030. By 2025, it is estimated that several of its main components, such as sophisticated logistics solution facilities, will have been realized.

By 2030, Oxagon is predicted to accommodate around 90,000 people. In this floating city there will be many factories and most of it will consist of industries, industrial sites and other logistics related areas, but there will also be residential developments.
