Three More States In The U.S. Ban The Installation Of TikTok On The Devices Of Government Employees

Like there is an effort in the United States to try to ban the TikTok application lately. Recently, Texas, South Carolina and Maryland have banned government employees from installing the TikTok application on devices provided for work purposes.

All three states followed the lead of South Dakota, which became the first state to issue similar directives at the end of November. The banning order was made using the same reasoning claiming that TikTok could be used for espionage purposes by Bytedance on behalf of the Chinese government.

Late last week, FBI director Chris Wray also voiced similar concerns, claiming that TikTok content can be manipulated by certain parties to control public perception. The TikTok side has repeatedly denied that they are accessing user data on behalf of China, with the data browser for US users having been transferred to a system maintained by Oracle.
