TikTok's algorithm is interesting because it can predict the audience's interest with high accuracy. This raises the question of what criteria are used to recommend videos from accounts that are not followed on the For You Page (FYP) in the application. Now TikTok is updated with a feature to see information about why videos are included in FYP.
When a video is watched, there is a new option under the Share menu. Press the question mark icon for "Why this video" and information on why the video is recommended will be displayed. Among the criteria used by TikTok is based on viewing history, interactions, Likes, comments, searches, followed accounts, new content from the same region and popular content in the same region.
With this, the FYP video will be more transparent as to how it can be recommended to the audience because there is a conspiracy theory that TikTok's algorithm has been manipulated to destroy society. The fact that the video appears is because it is popular and has the attention of many other users in the same region.
