TSMC Revenue Soars Thanks to Apple

Despite being hit by various problems in China, TSMC's revenue last November shot up to USD 7.27 billion, the majority of which was helped by chips ordered by Apple.

When compared to TSMC's revenue in November 2021, the figure of USD 7.27 billion means an increase of 50.2%, an extraordinary achievement. Considering that TSMC has been hit by a lot of problems over the last few months.

Call it the zero-COVID policy implemented by the Chinese government, which makes TSMC have to rack its brains so that its factories can continue to operate. Although in the end the problem also peaked after its factory in Zhengzhou, China was protested by workers which led to riots.

With sales increasing dramatically, TSMC is still on track to meet its estimated revenue target in Q4 2022, which is between USD 19.9 billion and USD 20.7 billion.

The majority of TSMC's chip sales come from the supply of the A16 Bionic chip for Apple, which is used by the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Apple, which is indeed TSMC's biggest customer, will later order chips from TSMC's newly inaugurated chip factory in the US, in Arizona to be precise.

TSMC will produce 4nm chips at the Arizona factory in 2024, upgrading from previous chips that used 5nm fabrication. This change in chip production to 4nm is reportedly being pushed by Apple, as quoted by us from Techspot.

However, a number of analysts doubt that TSMC's performance will continue to be successful in 2023. This is because chip orders in 2023 are predicted to decrease, although it seems that TSMC already has a plan to deal with this problem, namely by increasing the price of its chips.

Previously they had planned to increase the price of 3nm wafer chips by 25% compared to 5nm wafers, namely to USD 20 thousand. The chip that will use the 3nm process will likely be the Apple A17 Bionic, and Apple was previously forced to agree to the price increase.
