Twitter Community Notes That Add Contextual Notes To Tweets Are Now Enabled For Everyone

Among the main problems of social media platforms is the spread of false, inaccurate or manipulated information to convey the wrong narrative. It becomes a dangerous weapon that can be used to divide society. Twitter announced that the Community Notes feature previously named Birdwatch is now enabled for all users of the platform.

At the initial stage, Community Notes can only be accessed by users in the United States. Through Community Notes, Twitter users can put context notes on the original tweet. For example you find a tweet that says "iPhone is the best phone in the world" and then you can put Community Notes on this tweet that adds "Only true if you use the full Apple ecosystem". Links to more specific information can also be added to provide verifiable context.

This feature went viral on Twitter because it was used by platform users to add facts to Elom Musk's inaccurate tweets.
