Elon Musk has now stated that the social service Twitter will soon delete and discard around 1.5 billion accounts on the service.
The accounts that will be deleted are accounts that do not have any tweets and have not logged in for years.
With this step, it will simultaneously allow existing users to get the username they like, or for new users to get their username without having to think of a new username.
It is not yet known when this erasure process will begin.
