Two years ago, Xiaomi and Motorola introduced true wireless charging systems – where devices can be charged wirelessly at a distance from the charger. This technology uses radio waves such as mmWave on Motorola Air Charge or Xiaomi Space Charge/Mi Air Charge which can charge many devices simultaneously at a rate of 5W.
Recently the AirFuel Alliance has come up with a new true wireless charging system standard for use in mobile devices, AirFuel RF.
This standard allows devices to be charged at a distance of up to several meters. It uses technology, where energy waves are created from the device and can be transferred to receive or give power. AirFuel RF is said to be suitable for use in wearable devices because of its small size and does not require a lot of power.
Among those who have already joined the AirFuel Alliance are Energous and Atmosic who will reveal their products at the CES 2023 event later. AirFuel also hopes that more device manufacturers will implement this technology so that users can enjoy true wireless charging technology.
Let's all look forward to more information about this standard later.
