Apple Focuses on Working on VR Headsets, Other Products Are Abandoned?

In 2023, it is said that Apple will focus on developing a mixed reality (AR / VR) headset which will be called Reality Pro, and this will have an impact on Apple's other product lines.

Apple seems obligated to make the user experience on the headset perfect considering the price, which may reach USD 3000, we were quoted as saying from Phone Arena, Tuesday (10/1/2023).

Reality Pro is said to be the most complex product Apple has ever worked on, which means they had to put in a lot of time, money and human resources to work on the headset.

This makes several Apple product lines not updated in 2023. At least that's the analysis of Mark Gurman from Bloomberg in his weekly Power On report.

Gurman said the iPad Pro line would not receive major updates in 2023. According to him, Apple is indeed working on a tablet with a bigger screen, but the tablet will not be released this year.

Even the updates to the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros won't be released until the first half of 2024. That's when Apple uses OLED panels for the iPad Pro lineup.

Likewise with other series of iPads, such as the iPad Mini, iPad Air, and the standard iPad, which may only receive minor specification updates. Even the Apple Watch Series 9 might only get a minor performance increase.

But specifically for the iPhone, its fate will be different compared to other product lines. There will be several significant updates to Apple's flagship product, for example Dynamic Island will be brought to the non-Pro iPhone 15.

Then the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Ultra will be updated with a titanium frame, an upgrade from the stainless steel frame that is currently used. Oh yes, the volume buttons on the iPhone line will also be changed to non-physical ones. So the button will only give a haptic vibration when pressed, similar to Touch ID on some iPhone series.

Specifically, the iPhone 15 Pro and Ultra will be equipped with USB-C which replaces Lightning, and is equipped with the A17 Bionic chip produced by TSMC with a 3nm process. While the non-Pro variant still uses the 4nm A16 Bionic which is used on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
