Apple is ready to take steps to reduce dependence on external manufacturers in obtaining components - while controlling the entire supply chain by producing the necessary components itself. In addition to the transition to the production of its own chip, Apple is also now reported to want to produce its own display screen.
With this move, Apple will no longer have to rely on other manufacturers such as Samsung, LG and so on to produce screens for their devices.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is expected to begin the transition to the use of display panels developed in-house as early as 2024, with the use of display panels on the new Apple Watch Ultra later that year.
Apple is also expected to switch to the use of micro_LED as this transition.
Apple will produce the display panel, and still relies on other manufacturers to mass-produce it.
This method will also make it easier for them to control what new changes they want to offer – including avoiding any development leaks.
