Apple Watch Found to Infringe on Blood Oximeter Patent and May Be Banned in U.S

Last year Apple was found guilty of using technology held by its intellectual property by LiverCor for the ECG system of the Apple Watch. In 2023, the beginning for Apple is the same as the end of 2022 because they have now been found guilty of infringing a patent for a blood oximeter held by the company Masimo Corp.

Masimo, which is a manufacturer of modified equipment, said that the Apple Watch Series 6 and above are equipped with oximeters with their technology without a paid license to use it. Therefore, Masimo is waiting for the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) to issue an order to prevent Apple Watch Series 6 and above from being imported into the United States.

Apple disagrees with the judge's opinion and is awaiting the USITC's decision. There's another class action lawsuit filed against Apple because the Apple Watch sensor allegedly doesn't give good readings to owners who have dark skin.
