Buying a used car is normal for those who want to own a vehicle but cannot afford a new one. Among smartphone users, there seems to be a stigma of buying a used phone because of the issue of fraudulent warranty period when the purchased device is a fake. According to an IDC report this week, sales of used phones increased 11.5% in 2022 compared to 2021 suggesting this stigma may be diminishing.
An estimated 222 million used devices were sold last year with predictions that it will increase to nearly 414 million by 2026. Better software support, low year-on-year processor performance improvements and economic conditions are driving the increase in used device sales.
This is good news for faucet users in Malaysia, we can see used devices in good condition can be bought at a price that does not burden the user. For the environment, it reduces electronic waste which is a big issue.
