Don't Miss It! There's a Quadrantid Meteor Shower Tonight


 The Quadrantid meteor shower will peak tonight. For you astronomy lovers, get ready to enjoy the best natural phenomena.

This meteor shower has actually been going on since December 28 and will continue until January 12, 2023. However, the peak of this natural event will occur on Wednesday (4/1) in the morning.


The Quadrantid has the characteristic of a meteor shower by producing lots of fireballs which will spoil the eyes of astronomy hunters, especially for the people of Indonesia.


Quoted from Inverse, at the peak of the Quadrantid meteor shower it will amaze those who witness it with 60 to 100 meteors per hour.


The intensity of the Quadrantid meteor shower reaches 110 meteors per hour at the zenith (the point in space directly above the observer). This meteor shower originates from Asteroid 2003 EH1 and Comet C/1490 Y1. This meteor shower is not affected by the intervention of moonlight.


Although the Quadrantids are mostly a meteor shower that occurs in the northern hemisphere, those in the south, including Indonesia, make it possible to witness them.


Note when the Quadrantid meteor shower will reach its peak on Wednesday (4/1) at 03.00 WIB in the morning in the northeast, then fade as the sun rises.



To get the best view of the Quadrantid meteor shower, you must be in an area with mini light pollution, aka urban. Look for an open area with as wide a view as possible, which is expected not to be disturbed by the weather, such as cloudy or rainy.


When is the next meteor shower in 2023? This natural phenomenon will occur on April 21 and 23, where the Lyrids meteor shower will adorn the dark sky.
