GrabAccess Program Opens Opportunities for More Disabled Persons Including Physical Disabilities to Join the Digital Economy

A few of us still have the stigma of people with disabilities (OKU) not contributing anything, as well as being an obstacle for them to be given opportunities in various ways. But it should be noted that they are also part of the requirements. Thus, they also have the right and opportunity to live a normal life.

Recently, Grab has come up with another regional program that encourages more people with disabilities and marginalized people to join the digital economy. Known as GrabAccess, it plays an important role not only in reducing the obstacles faced by the disabled. In fact, it also provides equal access and support to become a Grab partner, whether as a driver, delivery person or business partner.

This initiative is an addition to Grab's previous commitment to cooperation with the Malaysian Federation of the Deaf (MFD). Where, they empower the deaf and hard of hearing community in the Grab ecosystem. Next, it is now extended to the disabled with physical disabilities formed in collaboration with the Physically Disabled e-Hailing Driver Association of Malaysia (PPEOFM).

Through it, Grab is committed to providing assistance and specially designed training sessions to enable this group to fully utilize it for income opportunities. This includes access to knowledge to enter the Malaysian workforce equally, while also helping more people with disabilities achieve financial independence.

This announcement was made during the #BreaktheSilence ceremony organized to celebrate the disabled on the platform. The introduction of GrabAccess is also expected to be able to break society's stigma against the disabled, while at the same time being more open about the importance of equal inclusive opportunities to build a developed country.
