Instagram released a new feature that can make user profiles more attractive. Now Instagram users can post two profile photos at once, namely a regular profile photo and an avatar.
Previously, Instagram users had to choose between installing a profile photo or an avatar on their profile. Now, users can install both and just swipe if they want to see one of them.
"You can now add your avatar to the other side of your profile photo -- and people who visit your profile can switch between the two," Instagram said in a statement on Twitter, as quoted by TechCrunch, Friday (27/1/2023).
It's easy to add an avatar to your Instagram profile photo. But make sure you have made an Instagram avatar before. To create an Instagram avatar follow these steps:
Tap your profile icon or profile photo in the lower right corner to enter your Instagram profile
Tap the Edit Profile button below the profile photo then select the Create avatar option
Tap Get started to choose your avatar's skin color
After that, you are free to personalize your avatar with hairstyles, clothes, make-up, and so on
Tap Done and Save changes to save and create your avatar.
The created avatar will also be turned into a special sticker that you can share via direct messages (DM) or add to Stories. You are also free to edit the avatar from your profile by tapping the Edit Profile option and then Edit Avatar.

After creating your avatar, you can immediately set it as a second profile photo. The method is no less easy, namely:
Tap on the profile photo icon present in the lower right corner to open the Instagram profile
Tap the Edit profile button below the profile photo
Select the Edit picture or avatar option
Tap the tab with your avatar icon then click the toggle Add to profile picture to add an avatar to your profile photo
After adding your avatar, your profile photo will automatically change to your avatar. You can also rotate it manually by swiping the profile photo to the side.
Instagram says this update marks the first time they've introduced animated avatars. If you look carefully, the avatar in your profile photo will wave when displayed.
Meta first released the avatar feature on Instagram about a year ago. Avatar originally launched in 2022 to compete with Snap's Bitmoji, and is currently available on all of Meta's platforms namely Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger.
