The iPhone 15 series will reportedly get a significant upgrade for its connectivity capabilities. The candidate for the latest flagship cellphone from Apple is rumored to come with Wi-Fi 6E.
This news comes from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Previously Barclays analysts, Blaine Curtis and Tom O'Malley, also said the iPhone 15 will get a Wi-Fi 6E upgrade.
Apple is already using Wi-Fi 6E for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros that launched last year. The latest generation of Wi-Fi technology is also available on the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and the latest Mac mini.
Previously, it was rumored that the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 would support Wi-Fi 6E, but these rumors have not materialized. Now, after releasing more products with Wi-Fi 6E, Apple is reportedly ready to bring this new technology to the iPhone 15 series, as quoted from MacRumors, Saturday (28/1/2023).
Wi-Fi 6E itself has a number of advantages that can provide a smoother internet experience. With a compatible router and modem, devices with Wi-Fi 6E can connect to the 6GHz band, which provides faster connections, less latency, and less interference than the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands.
Wi-Fi 6E is also the first Wi-Fi standard to support 6GHz connectivity, since the previous Wi-Fi 6 standard only supported 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks.
But new users can experience the full benefits of Wi-Fi 6E if they are already using a compatible router. Currently there are several router brands that support Wi-Fi 6E such as Netgear, Asus, and Linksys.
However, it is not yet known whether Wi-Fi 6E will be available for all iPhone 15 variants or will it be an exclusive feature for the Pro variant. Apple itself is expected to launch the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra.
In addition to Wi-FI 6E, the four iPhone 15 variants are rumored to come with Dynamic Island, USB-C support, the A17 Bionic chip for the Pro variant, and a periscope lens for the most high-end variants.
