Jack Ma's Company Moves Country from China to Singapore, Really?

Alibaba, the e-commerce giant raised by Jack Ma, is said to be building a global headquarters in Singapore. Is that right?

This rumor is nothing new, especially with the pressure from the Chinese government on Alibaba and Jack Ma himself. It was even rumored that Jack Ma himself would move abroad permanently.

Alibaba also reacted and they denied the news. As quoted by us from Panda Daily, they emphasized that their headquarters would still be in China.

"Alibaba was born, grew and developed in Hangzhou. It is natural and inevitable that Alibaba's global headquarters has always been in Hangzhou," said an Alibaba spokesperson. Hangzhou itself is where Jack Ma was born and grew up.

"At the same time, the company hopes to take root in China and expand to the world, actively promote its own globalization construct, and become a Chinese company founded by the Chinese and globally competitive," the Alibaba spokesman added.

Regarding Jack Ma, after spending a long time in Japan and then going to Thailand, he is reported to have returned to Hong Kong ahead of the Chinese New Year.

In the past year, Ma has visited research institutes in the Netherlands, Japan and Asia working in the agricultural and fisheries technology sector. He has repeatedly stated that advancing the countryside and people's welfare will be the focus of his future work.

Singapore itself is an important country for Alibaba's global expansion. Recently, Alibaba Cloud announced at the Singapore Summit that it will continue to increase overseas investment, set up facilities in Singapore, and comprehensively upgrade its overseas service system.
