For those who don't know, until today the easy way to connect internet of things (IoT) devices or tether accessories with SmartThings support on Samsung phones – users can use the Nearby Device Scanning feature. This feature will detect devices that support SmartThings nearby on the device.
Now with the Internet of Things device connection protocol Matter 1.0 has been launched since October 2022, Samsung wants to make it even easier for users to connect or tether to their smartphones. Through it, the Nearby Device Scanning feature update has added the Matter Easy Pair feature.
This means that devices or various accessories that already support the Matter 1.0 protocol can be directly connected to Samsung phones like SmartThings products before. Nearby Device Scanning can now detect various internet of things devices from various brands such as Google, Ikea and others can be used more easily.
Not only that, in collaboration with Google – any Internet of Things device that has been connected through SmartThings can also be used on the Google Home application without resetting or registering a second time. Users just need to go to the Galaxy Store and update the Nearby Device Scanning application to version 11.1.08.7 to start using this feature.
