The Minister of Public Works has now shared that he will add as many as 12 RFID lanes on the highway - at the same time overcoming the problem of congestion on the RFID lanes, as well as making it easier for users to use RFID-based payments at the Toll Plaza.
Through discussions, a total of 10 additional lanes will be added on the North-South Expressway, 1 additional lane on the Penang Bridge, and 1 on the Butterworth-Kulim Expressway.
The highway provider has committed to implementing the addition of this RFID lane by April 2023 at the latest.
