Mojo Vision AR Contact Lens Development Delayed With 75% of Staff Fired

Last June, Mojo Vision presented their contact lenses which were the first to have the ability to support augmented intelligence (AR) directly on the wearer's eyes. This contact lens is equipped with a 0.5mm MicroLED screen but with a pixel density of 14,000 PPI which is much higher than a smartphone and is equipped with an ARM Core M0 processor.

Less than a year after the contact lens was shown, Mojo Vision now says that they had to slow down the development of their AR contact lens because of the issue of crows being able to continue the project. The company will focus on the development and business of the micro LED screen used on their AR contact lenses.

Due to the change in company strategy, 75% of the staff will lose their jobs. The Mojo Vision AR contact lens has been in development since 2015 but is not yet ready for commercialization. Some AR headsets on the market today are also not widely accepted by the public because there is no need to use them.

HTC, Pico and Meta still offer big AR headsets while Apple is believed to be showing off their headsets in just a few months.
