Review – Wiko 10 Is A Modest Device Not For Everyone

Wiko 10 has been announced in Malaysia as another smartphone focusing on daily use with a price below RM1000. Some of the things that Wiko promises through it are a satisfying experience with a large screen. Then a 50MP sensor with adequate capabilities and a large storage space without the worry of storing various files.

All of this, however, can be considered cliche for an everyday smartphone these days. The reason is that the priority of most users is simply to find a phone for basic use and entertainment. But is what Wiko offers sufficient and able to put it in line with its competitors? This is our brief review for this smartphone.

Wiko 10 is available in three color options such as Klein Blue, Black and Silver. It comes down to personal taste in choosing which one is right for you, but our review unit came in Silver. Overall it looks minimalistic with only one color without any motifs either lines or stripes. Then, the body is completely made of plastic with a combination of dull finish, this is to ensure that it is not too slippery.

This is further enhanced by the presence of rounded edge corners which make it very comfortable in the hand, despite its large size. But the probability of the problem of the device being easily dirty and scratched necessarily increases with the use of such a finish. Wiko has however provided a clear silicon frame in the purchase box as additional protection.

A serial fingerprint scanner built into the power button with a robust build is also included. It is placed on the right side with the audio adjustment buttons next to each other. Moving to the left side, there is only a hybrid dual-SIM tray. At the top there is a microphone hole, then the USB-C charging port, audio jack and speaker are located at the bottom. The speaker system is kind of mono which is still forgivable considering it's just a budget device.

Likewise in the absence of waterproof support, wireless charging and NFC are included. Wiko is also still doing its best when it is able to provide 3.5mm audio jack support that facilitates the use of wireless earphones. Whereas, this feature is being actively eliminated by the closest competitors, at the same time users are forced to increase the cost to get additional accessories.

The front panel is pretty basic with a sort of flat screen with a small notch that houses the single selfie camera. It is a 6.7-inch IPS LCD with HD+ resolution and a standard refresh rate. Also visible is the size of the bezel on the chin is very thick compared to the other three sides. Even so, the size of the screen clearly shows that the display is still large enough for a satisfying multimedia experience.

Screen capability is also good and bright depending on the situation. For example, use in closed areas such as houses and buildings shows satisfactory performance. But the downside starts to show when used in bright sunlight, where the screen becomes difficult to read well.

Bench mark

The device is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio G37 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage on the unit we received. The combination of RAM and storage is sufficient, but if there are users who need more storage. There is microSD support which can be further expanded up to 512GB. The test results using AnTuTu and Geekbench are as follows:-

Geekbench 5 – 174/967 points

Antutu 3D – 139,032 points

The use of Wiko 10 in the real world shows moderate performance. This may seem less impressive, but it should be noted that the Wiko 10 is a device for general use. Therefore, we cannot expect general and first-party applications to run smoothly all the time. There is no problem to use social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Twitter.

1 x Wiko 10.

1 x 22.5W Charger Head.

1 x USB-C to USB-A Cable.

1 x Silicone Frame.

1 x User Manual.

1 x SIM Extractor.

Conclusion

It's simple but there's still something good about the Wiko 10 as an everyday smartphone. For example, such as a large screen for a satisfactory multimedia experience. Then the combination of memory and storage is adequate, in addition to the absence of annoying excessive bloatware problems. Battery life can also be commended with 22.5W charging support complete with charging head in the purchase box.

In our opinion, it is actually more suitable as a backup device than the main one. Not to mention, it is used to play first. This is to prevent you from feeling angry and stressed due to a completely uneventful dating experience. For those who are interested, the Wiko 10 can be purchased in Malaysia at RM699.
