Samsung Display showed off a prototype of a new device with a foldable and slidable screen. This device was exhibited at CES 2023 along with a number of other display technologies.
The prototype, called the Flex Hybrid, has a left side that can be opened to reveal all of its screens. Then the right side can be pulled out to reveal more of the screen.
Samsung did not disclose details of the specifications of this screen, such as resolution or brightness level. They only say that the Flex Hybrid can be enlarged from a 10.5 inch screen to 12.4 inches, as quoted from The Verge, Wednesday (4/12/2023).
In addition, the screen ratio can also be expanded from 4:3 to 16:10. If this display becomes a reality, users can enjoy a tablet-sized screen when opened, and swipe the screen next to it to enjoy movies or games on a larger screen.

This prototype is designed to follow the concept of devices that have been showcased by Samsung in recent years. Not to mention the folding screen phones Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip that Samsung has released publicly.
Last year Samsung also showcased various folding and sliding screen concept devices, but none of them combined a flip and slide screen in one device like this. Until now, these concepts have not been released as products that can be enjoyed by consumers.
In addition to the folding and sliding screen devices, Samsung has also shown two larger sliding screen prototypes. This sliding screen measures 17 inches and is designed for future laptops.
The Flex Slidable Solo can be expanded from a 14-inch OLED screen to 17.3 inches by pulling one of the sides. Meanwhile, the Flex Slidable Duet can be enlarged by pulling the screen extension from the left and right sides.
