The screen brightness on the Galaxy S22 Ultra phone reaches 1750 nits at the highest setting. This is about three times the brightness of an LCD screen on a computer monitor. At CES 2023, Samsung has demonstrated its new Ultra Dynamic Range (UDR) screen technology with a brightness of over 2000 nits.
The screen is still from the OLED family with Samsung saying bright screens are more important on smartphones than TVs or computer monitors as they are used more often outdoors. Samsung's two UDR technologies are confirmed to pass the level of 1500 nits and 2000 nits through official UL Solutions laboratory tests.
With the panel already shown, it is not surprising if this UDR panel will be used on the Galaxy S23 series that will be launched next month. Every year the latest technology from Samsung Display will be used on Samsung's flagship Galaxy S series phones.
