Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy S23 series on February 1, 2023. This cellphone not only has the most advanced specifications but also a more durable design.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 series will be the first cellphone to use Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protective glass. This is not so surprising considering that Samsung is always the first vendor to sample Corning's latest products.
When the original Gorilla Glass Victus was released in 2020, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra was the first cellphone to use it. Likewise with the Samsung Galaxy S22 which is the first cellphone with Gorilla Glass Victus +.
Gorilla Glass Victus 2 was first announced in November 2022. Corning claims this protective glass can withstand drops from a height of one meter on concrete surfaces which are more challenging because they are uneven.
In addition, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 can also survive a fall from a height of two meters on a smooth asphalt surface, just like the original Gorilla Glass, as quoted from The Verge, Friday (27/1/2023).
Corning says the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 has the same scratch-resistant abilities as the original Gorilla Glass Victus. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is also more environmentally friendly because it is made with 22% recycled content and has Environmental Claim Validation certification.
It is likely that Gorilla Glass Victus 2 will be used on the front and back of the Galaxy S23 series, just like Victus+ which protects all sides of the Galaxy S22 series.
In addition to the support for Gorilla Glass Victus 2, the Galaxy S23 series will also come with qualified specifications such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, AMOLED screen, storage options up to 1TB, and a 200 MP camera for the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Ahead of its launch, which is only a few days away, the price for the Galaxy S23 series has also been revealed.
