The Twitter application has a new look similar to TikTok. The Twitter timeline is now divided into two sections, namely the 'For You' and 'Following' tabs which can be replaced with just one swipe.
Previously Twitter users could switch between the 'Home' and 'Latest Tweets' feeds by clicking the star icon in the upper right corner. Now the icon is removed and replaced with the For You and Following tabs.
For You, which has the same name as the algorithm-driven TikTok feed, is similar to the 'Home' feed option. This feed will display tweets from accounts that users follow but randomly and insert recommended tweets that users might like.
Meanwhile the Following tab is a new version of the 'Latest Tweets' feed which displays tweets from accounts that users follow and are displayed in chronological order.
"Starting today on iOS, swipe between tabs to view recommended Tweets "For You" or Tweets from your "Following" account," wrote the Twitter Support account in its announcement on Twitter, as quoted by us, Thursday (12/1/2023) .
"The "For You" and "Following" tabs replace "Home" and "Latest" and will be pinned at the top of the timeline so you can switch between the two easily. Swipe to change timelines instead of tapping the star button," he continued.
With this new look, Twitter users only need one swipe to switch between algorithmic or chronological feeds. But when opening the Twitter application, the For You feed will be displayed first by default.
Currently, the new Twitter feed view has just been released for iOS devices. Meanwhile, the star button for switching timelines is still available on the Twitter app for Android and the Twitter web. Not yet known when this new look will be released for Android and the web.

This update was announced after CEO and new owner of Twitter Elon Musk revealed that the Twitter timeline should have a swipe feature that makes it easier for users to switch between timelines containing the top, newest, trending, and topics that users like.
The update also comes shortly after Musk promised a slew of new features for overhauling Twitter, including a bookmark button to be released next week and longer-character tweets to be rolled out in early February.
