It's not new that streaming apps like for video or audio have a sleep reminder feature. It is to control the user from obsession or delusion with an application. Spotify has a sleep timer, YouTube has reminders to sleep and more.
Recently, TikTok is also seen to be testing more or less the same feature. The feature named as Sleep Reminder is present through Screen Time settings. Unlike screen time that can limit the use of the TikTok app, Sleep Reminder will stop sending notifications to users and remind users to sleep for 7 hours.
The feature is said to be being tested by select users globally, and is not yet widely distributed. Based on a TechCrunch report, this feature is not synchronized with sleep time on iOS or Android – instead, users have to set their own sleep time.
There is no doubt that TikTok has become a popular social media application and some are addicted to it. To avoid any problems, features like this are included to keep users on their toes. For user accounts aged 13-15, notifications are already turned off every 9pm while those aged 16-17 do not receive notifications at 10pm.
