Twitter needs to reduce their operating costs immediately after being taken over by Elon Musk. Among the drastic measures he has taken is to stop paying rent for the office. As a result Twitter has now started closing their offices in India, Europe, Hong Kong, Philippines, Mexico, Africa, Australia and South Korea.
The shutdown does not mean Twitter is shutting down operations in those countries. In some countries, for example, employees are asked to work from home and have not yet been fired. In Singapore this week, Twitter staff were asked to vacate an office for failing to pay rent but were later allowed to return after it was paid. Singapore is the operational headquarters for the entire APAC region.
