WhatsApp is testing drawing tools, aka a new photo editing feature. This new feature makes the process of editing photos on WhatsApp similar to Instagram Stories.
This new feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in WhatsApp beta for Android versions 2.23.3.4 and 23.3.7. This feature is still under development so it's not yet available for beta testers.
This new feature focuses more on a text editor for editing photos. So users can add text to photos, videos or GIFs in a more creative style.
From the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will release three new features to improve photo editor capabilities, namely:
1. New fonts
Users will be able to choose one of the five fonts provided by WhatsApp. The five font choices are Calistoga, Courier Prime, Damian, Exo 2, and Morning Breeze.
WhatsApp users can actually change the font for text in photos. But this update will make the process easier because users only need to select one of the options available on the screen.
But according to WABetaInfo, this new font is only available for editing photos in the drawing editor. So this new font will not be available for making Status or changing fonts in WhatsApp chats.
2. Text alignment
The second feature is the option to change the text alignment. Just like on Instagram Stories, WhatsApp users can now make the text in photos aligned to the right, center, or left making it easier to edit the photos to be sent.
3. Background text
Finally, WhatsApp will launch the option to change the background or text background. Thanks to this feature, users can choose the background color of the text as desired.
New fonts and other features will be released along with a new text editor in the next update. It is not yet known when WhatsApp will release this feature for beta testers and all of its users.
In addition to the new photo editing feature, WhatsApp is also developing a new feature that allows users to send photos in their original quality, so users don't have to worry about the photos sent being broken.
