WhatsApp today announced the addition of a new feature, which is the integration of connection through a proxy.
With this move, it will allow users to stay connected by using a proxy server provided by an organization around the world - especially when the connection to WhatsApp is blocked in a country.
WhatsApp says this move will make it easier for users to stay in touch with friends, while at the same time maintaining the security and encryption it enjoys today – preventing messages from being read by anyone, including WhatsApp and even Meta.
WhatsApp also said they hope there will be no disruptions to internet services - as has been the case in Iran for months.
This proxy settings option is now available through the latest version of WhatsApp settings page. You just need to go to "Storage and Data", and then select "Proxy". If the connection to the entered proxy server is successful, a special "checkmark" is next to it.
