Wikipedia's interface was updated today for the first time since 2011. According to the Wikimedia Foundation, the redesign of the desktop version of Wikipedia took nearly three years. Through this new Vector 2022 interface, the process of reading content on Wikipedia will be easier because scrolling is reduced and there are quick shortcuts to important parts of the article on the left side of the screen.
At the top right corner of the article is placed a button to change the language more clearly. The language options for each article will be listed which is much easier than the previous menu which was quite hidden.
For the comfort of reading long articles, the new interface limits the length of the lines on the screen and focuses on the content. The old side menu is now hidden inside the hideable menu in the upper left corner of the Wikipedia page. The process of finding related articles has also been improved with more accurate suggestions on the search box.
For users who are more comfortable with the old interface Vector Legacy can still be accessed through the menu displayed on the screen. The Wikimedia Foundation is currently collecting feedback from Wikimedia users about the changes they have made. So far Wikipedia has 58 million articles in 300 languages that are accessed 16 billion times a month.
