On February 10 they shot down an unidentified object off the northern Alaskan coast, about the size of a car. On February 11th they shot an unidentified object over Yukon, Canada, which looked like a small metal balloon. On February 12 they fired again over Lake Huron, near Michigan, octagonal.
Well, here's the thing. America could search the wreckage of the Chinese balloon and have identified it. But not with the other 3 objects.
Reported by NPR, Sunday (19/2/2023) America and Canada failed to find anything from the other 3 shooting locations. Finally on Friday (17/2) it was decided that the search was stopped.
"US Northern Command terminated its search near Deadhorse, Alaska and in Lake Huron involving aerial imagery and sensors, surface inspection and sensors, and subsurface scanning. Maritime and air security safeguards were also lifted," US Northern Command said in a release to media.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said the search in the Yukon was called off due to the lowered chances of finding the object. US and Canadian officials said weather conditions, the instability of sea ice and snow, were complicating the search.
Thus, the situation became even more mysterious. What were the 3 objects that the American fighter shot down?
In the case of the Chinese balloon that was shot down February 4 off the coast of South Carolina, the Pentagon said it was a monitoring device. Meanwhile, the Chinese said it was a civil research project.
For the 3 objects that were shot down after that, US President Joe Biden has said they allegedly belonged to private companies or research institutions. However, with the search being stopped without the discovery of the ruins, all these suspicions remained floating.
