iPhone 14 does not bring many significant changes compared to its predecessor. However, Apple claims that the regular version of the iPhone 14 still brings many upgrades that users can enjoy.
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Senior Director of iPhone Design Richard Ding revealed several things that make the iPhone 14 worth a glance. One of them, the iPhone 14 is more powerful than the iPhone 13 Pro even though it uses the same chip.
As is known, Apple has begun to differentiate the specifications between the standard and Pro variants of the iPhone 14. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus still use the A15 chip as used by the iPhone 13 series, while the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max use the A16 chip.
Even though the chip used is still the same as the previous generation, Dinh claims the performance of the standard iPhone 14 is more powerful because of a new internal design that can increase its cooling capabilities.
"For the iPhone 14, the design changes drastically to include a central aluminum structure that acts as the backbone," said Dinh, as quoted by 9to5Mac, Friday (10/2/2023).
"These central structural planes help dissipate more heat across the surface in a more consistent manner."
The new internal design in iPhone 14 also makes the phone even easier to repair. iPhone 14 has a central aluminum structure that contains the logic board and other components separated from the front and back glass.
This means that the iPhone 14 can be repaired by opening the front or back, and the logic board can be accessed from one side. Unlike the previous iPhone where the internal components could only be accessed by removing the display first.
"While the iPhone 14 may look almost identical to the iPhone 13 physically, it actually has a significant design overhaul, with advantages that may not be immediately understood when compared to the older model," said Dinh.
"These include reduced weight, cheaper and easier repairs, and longer battery life," he concluded.
