Apple Delays Introduction of Headset Due to Various Issues

Apple is expected to show their augmented reality (AR) headset next April. This is expected to usher in the era of smart headsets from them and result in headsets being launched by competitors. But according to a Bloomberg report, the introduction of this AR ship set has been postponed to next June during the WWDC event.

This is because there are various hardware and software issues on the set currently being tested. To develop this "Apple Glass" headset, Apple needs to develop a new operating system and produce a headset that they have never produced. They need to make sure the product is really ready before being shown to avoid the Air Power incident that later had to be canceled from happening again.

It is believed to come with various cameras and sensors to enable tracking of the surrounding area and detect 6DoF movement. There are reports that it will be equipped with the same chip as Apple M and with a battery pack worn on the body to reduce the weight on the head.
