Canon EOS R8 Launches With Full-Frame 24.2MP Sensor

The Canon EOS R8 was also launched this morning as the lightest camera with a full frame sensor they have ever produced. It's marketed as a full-frame camera for entry-level users who just want to dabble in the world of photography.

It is a mirrorless camera equipped with a full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor paired with a Digic X image processing chip. Fast focusing can be enjoyed through the Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system that captures images in 0.03 seconds.

This gives it the ability to capture images at up to 40 frames per second through the digital shutter. There is no IBIS system like the EOS R50 instead it relies entirely on the OIS system.

Video can be recorded at 4K 60p resolution and it can be done continuously for up to 2 hours. Supported formats are 10-bit HDR or C-Log 3 10-bit YCbCr 4:2:2 H.265 profile. Using it as a webcam is also possible.

There is an OLED electronic viewfinder with 2.36 million dot 120FPS and meanwhile the 3″ LCD touchscreen on the back can be removed for easy self-video recording.

Canon EOS R8 selling price $1500 (~RM6459) for the body only and $1700 (~RM7320) with the RF 24-50mm kit lens.
