This year the Casio G-Shock watch series will celebrate its 40th anniversary. A lot has changed since 1983 with modern rugged watch technology far better than it was four decades ago. Therefore in conjunction with this historic anniversary, the Casio DW-5000C which was the first G-Shock will be relaunched with several improvements.
The Casio GW5000U-1 is a new model with the same design as the DW-5000C. The difference lies in the back panel which is now made of stainless material instead of resin on the original model. The iron core on the inside of the watch is now improved to be more durable. The watch can also be taken to dive up to 600 feet compared to only 328 feet on the original model.
To ensure time accuracy, Multi-Band 6 support will automatically change the time display when the owner goes to a different time zone. Casio GW5000U-1 will be sold for $300 (~RM1330) each.
