ChatGPT Creators Open Up About the Great Dangers of AI

Artificial intelligence or artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being discussed after the appearance of ChatGPT. Indeed, AI is considered to be dangerous if it is not managed properly. This was stated by Sam Altman himself as CEO of OpenAI, the company that created ChatGPT.

As quoted by us from CNBC, Tuesday (21/2/2023) Altman warned that the world may not be too far from the emergence of potentially frightening artificial intelligence. So, regulating it will be important.

In his tweet, Altman said the transition to an AI-based future could be fast and for the most part will be good. He exemplifies this by transitioning from a world without a smartphone to a world after a smartphone.

According to him, AI tools will help in many ways, for example making people more productive, healthier, smarter and also more entertained with various implementations of artificial intelligence.

"This kind of transition is mostly good and can happen quickly, the most recent example is the transition from a pre-smartphone world to a post-smartphone world. But there will be a temptation to make it super fast, which is scary. Society needs time to adapt to something that huge," he wrote.

According to him, it will take time for the government to regulate it. "We need enough time for institutions to figure out what to do. Regulation will be important. Although the current generation of AI tools are not that scary, I don't think we are that far from being scary," continued the 37-year-old man.

Previously in an interview with Forbes, Altman stated that control of AI must also be carried out by the manufacturing company and its users. "It's good if we can directly ask the company to take precautions. But there will be (AI) that is open source, most of it will be good but some bad things will happen," he said.
