Erdoğan's Private Jet Used to Evacuate Babies for Turkey's Earthquake Victims

Sixteen babies who were rescued from the rubble caused by the earthquake in southern Turkey, were evacuated by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's jet and immediately flown to a safe place.

Quoted from the Telegraph, the photos of the rescue of these babies were published by the Turkish state-owned news agency, amidst public anger against Erdogan, who was accused of mismanaging the emergency response situation.

The fate of the parents of the babies is not known for certain. But Turkish state media said the babies were found unaccompanied and aged six days to 12 months on average.

They were collected by foster mothers from Turkey's Ministry of Family and Social Services after the plane landed. The identities and circumstances of their rescue were not disclosed.

In a statement on her social media, Turkey's First Lady Emine Erdoğan said the babies' health condition was very good, giving hope and encouragement amid the post-earthquake grief.

"Initial examinations have been carried out. The results show they have no health problems. They are safe in the hands of the state," he wrote.

Dr Bulent Gungorer, chief physician at Etlik hospital in Ankara, told Anadolu news agency that doctors did not find any health problems even in babies who were pulled out from the wreckage.
