Fahmi Fadzil Directs CSM to Investigate the Issue of Personal Details of 3 Million People Downloaded Through MySejahtera

Last week, we wrote that a report from the Auditor General found that there was a data leak through the MySejahtera application, where the personal details of 3 million Malaysians were downloaded using Super Admin accounts from different IP addresses.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Fahmi Fadzil is aware of the matter, and in a reply to the Member of Parliament for Bagan, Lim Guan Eng, has said that the Ministry of Communications and Digital has instructed Cyber Security Malaysia to further investigate the report issued through the Auditor General's Report. .

No further details have been given regarding the investigation for the time being, but according to Fahmi, the Communications and Multimedia Commission will make an announcement regarding further action once the investigation has been completed.

According to the Auditor General's latest report, as many as 3 million Malaysians were downloaded by super-admin accounts in 2021. The Auditor General said that what is even more troubling is that the data was downloaded using a different IP address, which gives cause for concern as it is also likely to be downloaded from locations that should not have access to the database.
