FRIDA Is A Robot That Draws AI Generated Graphics Based On Text Input

Artificial intelligence technology is getting better and better. What is trending right now is text input technology to AI can generate graphics, or just ask questions with almost exact answers given such as recipes, essays, articles or even code for programs.

Recently Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute (CMU) has come up with the FRIDA (Framework and Robotics Initiative for Developing Arts) project, which is a robot hand that can draw graphics based on text input given on drawing paper. The name of this robot is taken from the famous Mexican painter Frida Kahlo.

According to a professor at CMU, FRIDA is a robot that uses an AI model that can understand captions or understand a content and translate it into art. Only, this robot is not 100% automatic because human help is still needed such as for mixing and refilling the paint. Then humans are also required to enter text input to FRIDA as instructions to draw what.

FRIDA is also not a 100% perfect robot, because it can make mistakes and by using a built-in camera, the robot monitors its own work and can fix problems. Each painting is also not fast and takes several hours to complete.

For now, there is no information about the commercial use of this robot and CMU is only developing it as a study. What do you think about this robot?
